Egypt’s El Beheira Governorate Mulls Solar Projects

The Egyptian governorate of El Beheira has received offers to construct solar energy power plants in Wadi El Natrun and Rasheed worth EGP 1.7b, with capacities ranging from 20 MW to 50 MW, over the course of two years.
TAQA Arabia Considers Constructing New 50MW Power Plant

Egypt’s largest private sector energy distribution company, TAQA Arabia, is considering establishing a new 50MW-capacity solar power plant. It will come in addition to the existing 50 MW solar plant project that the company seeks to implement in Aswan at cost of $75m.
Elsewedy Negotiating $75m Solar Plant Loan

Elsewedy Electric is currently in the negotiating process, with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), of obtaining a $75m loan to finance building its 50MW solar power plant in Aswan, Egypt.
Iran Signs $1m Solar Power Contract with British Firm

Bakhtar Regional Electricity Company, a subsidiary of Iran Power Generation and Transmission Company (TAVANIR), has signed a $1m contract with Britain’s Surrey Satellite Technology (SST) company to build a 50 MW capacity solar power plant, Iran’s first ever electricity deal with Britain, to be delivered by September 2016.
