Italy to Hold Referendum on Offshore Drilling

Italy has set 17th April as the date for a referendum on the duration of offshore drilling for oil and gas in Italy. The Constitutional Court gave the green light to the decision welcomed by regional councils and environmental groups.

Ghana’s leading opposition, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), asked the Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, –during his two-day visit to the country– to review the terms of a deal between Italian oil company, ENI and the government of Ghana to ensure that both countries benefit fairly.
