Africa Launches Ambitious Renewable Energy Initiative

Africa has launched an ambitious Africa Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI) to develop more than 10GW of renewable energy generation capacity by 2020, and at least 300GW by 2030, potentially making the continent the cleanest in the world.

At the Paris climate change conference, 195 countries have reached an unprecedented accord to commit nearly all states to lowering greenhouse emissions aiming at decreasing dangerous climate change effects.

Egyptian President Sisi spoke at the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris on November 30th. Sisi stated support for a binding deal, but raised an issue of disparity between developed and developing countries' contributions to climate change.

An orchestra’s work is never easy, it is quite a challenge to coordinate so many instruments to create even the simplest melody. Between the 30th of November and the 11th of December, the leaders of over 200 countries will gather in Paris with a similar challenge, to coordinate their efforts in engaging the challenges of climate change, and hopefully, unifying their tune.
