Egypt Nullified 6 MoUs for Coal-Fired Power

A source from the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy stated that the ministry might consider nullifying memorandums of understanding (MoU) for 6 coal-fired electricity plants. He added that the ministry will issue new tenders for the projects, to guarantee that the Egyptian government obtains the best financial offerings.

The Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation, Sahar Nasr, stated that during August, a consortium of the World Bank, the African Development Bank, in addition to German and French institutions will finalize the feasibility study of developing a 1000 MW solar plant and a facility for manufacturing solar panels, both projects worth a combined $3.3b, on loan from China.
