Gazprom Neft, Russia’s third-largest oil producer, is now settling all of its crude sales to China in renminbi, in the most clear sign yet that western sanctions have driven an increase in the use of the Chinese currency by Russian companies.

JSC Gazprom Neft reported start of shale oil production from the Bazhenov formation during tests of two wells in southern Priobskoye field in central western Siberia. Tests are planned for two other wells.

Gazprom Neft has started work to reactivate well Bd1 at Badra, Iraq, where it is operator. The work will make it possible to determine the technical state of the well and subsequently test four productive stratas at the site.
