India’s ONGC Plans $5b Deep Water Investment

India's Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) will invest around $5b to develop a major gas asset in the eastern Krishna Godavari (KG) basin, with a higher resulting level of output so that it will become the company's second biggest hydrocarbon asset in the country.

While Egypt has received positive news recently regarding onshore gas projects in the Nile Delta and Western Desert, 80% of its gas reserves reside in the Mediterranean Sea. However, since most of the gas is located in deep-water fields, extraction has proved difficult.
