Apache Spuds Dry Hole in Sallum


American operator Apache Corporation drilled a new exploratory well last march, situated in the Western Desert. The operation comes in consistence with Apache’s drilling plan for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.

Sources revealed that the well SALLUM D-1X was drilled to a depth of 13,100 feet using the EDC-1 rig, with drilling cost amounting to $2.852 million. The company abandoned the well as a dry hole.

Apache Corporation is an oil exploration and development company with operations in various countries including the US, Australia, Canada, Argentina, the UK, and Egypt. The company produces an approximate 265,000 barrels of oil and 1.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.

The company operates in Egypt through Khalda Petroleum and Qarun Petroleum, both of which are jointly owned by the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).
