Lundin revives life into Thistle

Lundin revives life into Thistle

Sweden’s Lundin Petroleum announced that it will restart the operations in the Thistle field for the first time in over 20 years.

Lundin’s new drilling program on the mature field will last for a number of years and aims to boost production, according to the statement made by the company.

“The resumption of drilling marks a significant milestone in the re-development of the Thistle platform following a $170 million investment,” said Lundin.

A 3D seismic acquisition program, which was conducted back in 2008, has identified a number of new drilling and that will increase the ultimate recoverable reserves from the Thistle and Deveron fields.

The investments will cover the reactivation and improvement of the drilling rig including the installation of a top drive, and expected to reach $80 million.
