On behalf of EGPC and Melrose Resources, Mansoura Petroleum Company has been established on March 2004, as an operator for oil and gas exploration and production in the Mansoura Concession in Nile Delta-Egypt. Being the first commercial black oil discovery in Nile Delta through El Tamad-1 well discovered in June 2005 which is considered one of the company’s significant achievements and it was successfully tested for black oil at a rate of 2,000 bpd. Among the company’s latest discoveries are the West Khilala and West Dikirnis fields. West Khilala-1 was discovered in October 2005 and was followed by drilling 6 wells to complete developing the reservoir. On 5-Feb-07 the field started production gradually up to 64 MMscfd and the maximum production from the field was on 6-Jun-07 with gas rate of 86.5 MMscfd. Also West Dikirnis field was discovered in December 2005 through well West Dikirnis-1 which was drilled in the gas cap. However it was thought to be a gas field, until well West Dikirnis-2 was drilled and tested at over 5,000 bpd of oil. Another 5 oil wells were drilled to complete developing the oil reservoir in this field, and currently the oil plant is under construction with total capacity of 20,000 bpd, and the estimated initial production will be 10,000 bpd.
